1 Day Arusha to Arusha National Park
In the morning, we will pick you from your hotel in Arusha and take you to the Arusha National Park. The park has an incredible variety of fauna and flora, which cannot fail to impress. Your day trip will include a visit to the Ngurdoto Crater. Buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, zebras and baboons can be seen all year round as well as many different bird species.

At the Momela Gate, an armed ranger will be waiting for you to accompany you on your walking safari that will give you the chance to experience the wildlife up-close. Only a few other national parks in Tanzania give you such an opportunity and it is something that should not be missed.

Lunch will be taken at a picnic place and in the afternoon, you will continue your tour in the safari vehicle through the Arusha National Park. After plenty of time allocated for you to observe the wildlife, we will take you back to Arusha.

1 DAY ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

We will collect you from your hotel in Arusha and following a 2-3-hour drive, you will arrive at the Tarangire National Park. In this region, Hemmingway often went on big game hunting safaris. After the formation of the national parks in 1970, they turned the seasonal marshes and the endless savannah that one sees today into, once again, profitable hunting grounds.

Today however, cameras thankfully have replaced the elephant guns. The Tarangire National Park has the highest density of elephants in North Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round in which the herds often can reach an impressive number of 300 animals. The Tarangire River has water all year round and during the dry season, between July and October, many animals from the surrounding areas come to the river for drinking.

If you visit the park during the dry season, you will witness an unforgettable natural wonder as you can observe wonderful creatures such as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests and zebras as well as various types of antelopes and gazelles and with a little luck, you can also spot a python! This area is during the dry season also a haven for bird watchers with over 550 different species including the Maasai Ostrich, the world largest bird.

Around lunchtime, you will stop at a suitable picnic place before the afternoon is dedicated to more wildlife watching. Before sunset, you will be taken back to your hotel in Arusha.

1 DAY ARUSHA/MOSHI TO LAKE CHALA

Lake Chala is a caldera lake fed by clean, cold underground streams from Kilimanjaro itself, and it’s renowned for its gloriously changing colours; from deepest turquoise to emerald green to azure and all colours in between. It’s a perfect place to relax and unwind and you have the choice of hiking the picture-perfect countryside around the lake, swimming in its sparkling waters (don’t forget your cozzie!) or kayaking across the border to Kenya. Or all three! It’s a day full of getting up close and personal to one of the greatest (and quietest) treasures of Tanzania.

Your friendly guide will arrive at your hotel with your tasty packed lunch. Then he will bustle you into the transport and drive you to Lake Chala. On the way, you’ll journey through the everyday life of Arusha and Moshi and on to the freeway, and you can spend a relaxing, comfortable hour-and-a-bit taking in the sights.

Lake Chala Safari Camp is a beautiful private game reserve overlooking Lake Chala. You’ll arrive there and our guide will take you down to the lakeside, through vividly green flora, with the blue, blue lake ahead of you. It gets quite rocky near the lake so wear sturdy footwear. It’s a stunning area perfect for hikers and birdwatchers, and in the season you might be lucky enough to spot elephants gathering at a distant waterhole. Spend the day wandering the paths around the lake or across the nearby savannah, where you’re likely to see baboons, vervet monkeys and blue monkeys as well as (perhaps) the shy dik-dik and graceful kudu, too.

After your hike, spend some time sitting by the lakeside enjoying the stillness, only disturbed by birdsong and the gently lapping waters.

If you’re feeling a little more active, you can jump into a kayak and explore the lake further. You’ll be serenaded by the ever-present birdsong and gentle plashing of the water as you row.

After your adventures, stop at the bar for a drink (alcoholic or otherwise) and, if you’re a little peckish, an afternoon snack. If you haven’t opted to camp at the Lake (think campfire under the star-filled heavens), you’ll be driven back to Arusha or Moshi in the late afternoon. The pleasant drive will give you some time to reflect on your day and wonder if it would be rude to go straight to bed when you get back – you won’t believe how tired you’ll feel after a day of restorative, stress-relieving peace.

1 DAY ARUSHA/MOSHI TO MARANGU FALLS

In the morning, we will collect you from your hotel in Arusha/Moshi and take you to Marangu, which lies in the fertile hills of Kilimanjaro where a village guide will be waiting for you and bring you first of all to the Chagga Live Museum, where you will get a deep insight in the traditional lifestyle of this agricultural society and also the family history.

He will then lead you through the coffee and banana plantations to a spectacular waterfall. On the way, he will tell you and point out the fauna and flora of the region. At the waterfall, you will have lunch and if you fancy you may take a plunge in the refreshing waters of the waterfall. In the afternoon, you will be driven to the village of Mamba. This small village is famous for its caves, which were once used to hide the women and children for weeks during the Chagga – Maasai wars.

At Mamba, you will also visit a local blacksmith who still forges spearheads in the traditional manner. Late in the afternoon, we will take you back to your hotel.
